Battambang Heritage Preservation Initiative Online

Invisible to the visitor having only a glance at the city, there are many hidden treasures waiting to be discovered in Battambang and surroundings. These once remarkable buildings from the glorious past have outlasted the recent troubled years of Cambodias history. Nowadays they stay hidden in the shadow, widely neglected by tourists and have been obscured by new layers of urban development.

The PEPSI FACTORY was erected in the 1960s. The complex once was located at the suburbia of Battambang. Its an outstanding example of New Khmer Architecture and reminds us of the countries modernisation process which took place in the Independence Period between 1953 to 1970.

Little is known about the INDOCHINA BANK. The building dates back to the early 20th century. Today is occupied by several families living there. While the facade has been changed, the interior still is in the same condition as in the old days with plenty of charming details like glazed tiles, wooden staircases and wall decorations.
