Battambang Heritage Preservation Initiative Online
Battambang City has inherited a rich urban heritage with great variety of historic architecture, the styles and layouts illustrating different phases of the cities history. The Heritage Protection Area is characterized by a coherent ensemble of about 800 heritage buildings from the French colonial protectorate, with some buildings from the Sangkum period.
Battambang Municipal Administration has launched an initiative for the conservation of this precious urban heritage.
“Our City – Our Heritage”
aims at preserving the valuable heritage buildings with their original appearance, to sustain the cultural identity and unique historic character of the city. So Battambang citizens can be proud of their heritage city and increasing tourism development will benefit the local economy.
